SWOT Analysis

Four questions that help you look at a situation from different angles.

What is SWOT?

SWOT looks at four parts of a situation:

Strengths
What is working well? What advantages do you have?

Weaknesses
What isn't working well? Where are the limitations or gaps?

Opportunities
What possibilities could you take advantage of?

Threats
What outside factors could create problems or make success harder?

Try it with AI

I want to use a SWOT analysis to think about [describe the situation, decision, project, product, or organization].

Help me identify possible strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats. Ask me questions when you need more context. Don't assume that something is a strength, weakness, opportunity, or threat without explaining why you put it in that category.

Work with the results

Ask the AI assistant to:

  • challenge the assumptions behind the analysis

  • identify anything important that may be missing

  • distinguish facts from assumptions

  • suggest questions that would improve the analysis

  • help you decide what the SWOT tells you about your next step

A simple reminder

SWOT is a way to organize thinking, not a way to make the decision for you.
