Stakeholder Analysis
A way to examine who is affected by a decision
Stakeholder analysis helps you identify the people, groups, or organizations that may be affected by a decision or have an interest in its outcome.
Stakeholders may have different goals, concerns, levels of influence, and information. AI can help you identify stakeholders, organize their interests, and point out perspectives you may have overlooked.
When to use it
Use stakeholder analysis when:
a decision affects several people or groups
different stakeholders have different interests
some people have more influence over the decision than others
you need to anticipate concerns or objections
you want to identify people whose information or support may be important
Try this with AI
Help me conduct a stakeholder analysis for [decision, project, or situation]. Identify the important stakeholders and describe their interests, concerns, influence, and likely response. Identify where stakeholder interests may conflict. Separate facts from assumptions and identify information that should be verified. Point out any important stakeholder I may have overlooked.
Then ask a follow-up
Which stakeholders could have the greatest effect on this decision? Where are the most important conflicts or uncertainties, and what should I learn before proceeding?
You can then ask AI to examine a particular stakeholder's perspective or explore how different approaches might affect the stakeholders.
A useful caution
Stakeholder analysis can make assumptions about what people want or how they will respond.
AI may infer motivations that are not supported by evidence. A person's level of influence may change, and the same stakeholder may have different interests in different situations.
Ask AI to identify the basis for its assumptions. When the decision matters, talk with the people involved rather than treating AI's description of their views as fact.
Remember
Stakeholder analysis helps you see who may be affected and what may matter to them. It does not speak for the people you identify.
