Pros and Cons
A simple way to compare advantages and disadvantages
A pros-and-cons list can be enough for a small decision. AI can help you generate possibilities you might have missed and organize them into a balanced list. You should add your own considerations and decide which ones matter most.
When to use it
Use a pros-and-cons list when:
you are considering a relatively straightforward choice
there are clear advantages and disadvantages
you want a quick first look before doing a deeper analysis
you want AI to suggest factors you may have overlooked
Try this with AI
Create a balanced list of the strongest advantages and disadvantages of [decision]. Separate consequences that are immediate from those that may appear later. Identify which items are supported by facts and which depend on assumptions.
Then ask a follow-up
Which of these factors matter most to me, and what information would help me decide?
Follow-up questions can make the analysis more useful.
A useful caution
A long list is not necessarily a better analysis.
AI may produce ten or twenty items that look equally significant. They probably aren't. Some may be facts, some assumptions, and some may matter much more to your decision than others.
Ask AI to help you rank the factors, then examine the reasoning behind the ranking.
Remember
AI can help you build the list. You decide what belongs on it and what matters most.
